BPR U10s Are BMSL Division 4 Champions

In their first season in the Bedfordshire Mini Soccer League, BPR U10s have won the Division 4 title, a fantastic achievement. The title was secured on Friday 30th April with a 3-0 away win to Eastcotts. The victory moved BPR onto 41pts, 3pts clear of Netherfield Saints who have already completed their fixtures, and 4pts ahead of Dunstable Colts who have one game remaining. Many congratulations from everyone at the Club to all the players and to manager Marcus Jennings and his coaching team. For full details of the U10s last match go to the News page.

Annual General Meeting

The Club's AGM will take place on Thursday, 13th May at 7:45pm. The venue is Putnoe Heights Church, Putnoe Heights, Bedford. All Club Members are welcome.

BPR U17s One Game Away from Title?

BPR U17s completed their league fixtures on Sunday 9th May with a 6-2 victory away to Dunstable Colts. This puts the U17s top of Chiltern Youth Football League Division 2 with 41pts, one point clear of Oldhill Eagles who have finished their season, and 3pts clear of Barnfield Colts who have one game remaining. All eyes are now on Barnfield's trip to Maulden Magpies on Tuesday 11th of May. A defeat or a draw for the Colts will see BPR win the League; a victory will force a play-off match to determine the league winners.

Wembley Bound!

As a Charter Standard Club, BPR were able to apply for FA Cup Final tickets, and were lucky enough to be allocated 3 tickets. After circulating the Club Membership to see who wished to be entered into a draw to purchase the tickets, 13 names went into the hat on Saturday morning. Club Treasurer, Kevan Clark, who was not in the draw, acted as draw-master. The lucky person who had first option to purchase the tickets was Club Vice Chairman, Bryan Kvilums. Bryan will be off to Wembley this coming weekend with his sons to watch Chelsea v Portsmouth. Have a great day!

Women's FA Cup Final

Having received an allocation of free tickets for the Women's FA Cup Final, a party of 18 from BPR went to the match. The game was played on Bank Holiday Monday at the City Ground, Nottingham, home of Nottingham Forest. In what appears to have been an enthralling match, Arsenal Ladies and Everton Ladies were level at 2-2 after ninety minutes, so another 30 minutes of extra time had to be played. It was a bit of a shock when it was the team from Merseyside who grabbed a last minute winner to lift the Cup. We hope all those that went had an enjoyable day.

BPR Tournament 2010 - Volunteers Required!

The BPR Tournament 2010 is just over 6 weeks away! We are now in full swing with regards preparations, and we need to start getting some names down on the volunteer rota to help out over the weekend of 12th & 13th June. It is only with your help that the tournament continues to be such a success and the main fundraising event run by the Club.

We have the usual jobs that need fulfilling over the weekend: car park attendants; BBQ cooks and counter staff; refreshments sellers; stewards are the ones that immediately come to mind, but I'm sure there are others. Club Secretary Charlie Hempstead is the man in charge of labour, so if you wish to help us out please contact either of us using the Contact tab above.

Last year saw teams from nine County Football Associations attend the tournament and we thought it would be a great achievement to match that again this season. The fantastic news is we've surpassed it with teams from eleven County FAs so far entered, and we still have just under a month until entries close. Teams as far afield as Sheffield in the north to Addlestone in Surrey in the south; Bracknell in Berkshire going west and Chingford in Essex to the east will be attending the tournament. We have half a dozen teams coming from Middlesex, teams from Leicestershire & Birmingham, not forgetting our near neighbours from Bucks, Northants, Herts and Cambridge. The biggest contingent though is still Bedfordshire based, but it is beginning to get a bit of a national event feel about it.

So it is even more important for you to step forward and offer your help over the weekend, as we'd like to see these teams come back year after year, having had a good time. Your support will be greatly appreciated not only by the Club's Executive Committee, but also by all the players who attend the event.

BPR Tournament - Sponsors

We are still seeking sponsors for the BPR Tournament. There are a number of ways you can support our event. We are looking for a main sponsor for the tournament, plus sponsorship of such things as the refreshments, the St John's Ambulance service, trophies etc., plus the chance to sponsor each individual age group. Advertising space is also being sold in the tournament programme. For further details please contact us using the Contact tab above.
