As we reach the final straight, things are looking good for a number of our teams.
The Under 12 Pumas will contest the County Saturday Cup Final this Thursday evening, May 2nd, at Barton, having already cemented a solid mid-table finish in Division 1.
The Under 18 Tigers are on track for a top 3 finish in Division 1 in their final season, which will provide a fitting finale for a stalwart team that boasts several players who were there from the outset in the Under 10s. On Sunday 28th April, they achieved the unlikely feat of defeating bottom side Old Stratford 13-1, despite having only 10 men. There were hat-tricks for Hurl and Dickson, two goals apiece for Souter and Midokwani, and one each for Magill and Pemberton, with an own goal completing the rout.
Also well placed for a high finish are the Under 10s, who are still in with a chance of clinching the title, while the Under 13 Cougars and Under 15 Sabres can both finish no lower than third. The Cougars were in fine form on Sunday, thrashing Wilstead Harriers Whites 6-1, thanks to four goals from Hudson and one each from Glinskas and Golder.
Two teams who won promotion last season have consolidated well at the higher level. The Under 15 Alleycats found Division 1 very hard going early on, but have recovered impressively, while the Under 12 Leopards have finished their season in a very creditable 5th place in Division 2. In their latest match, the Alleycats fell to a 3-1 home defeat against Dunstable Town, with McIntosh the goalscorer.
Things did not turn out so well for the Seniors, who were also promoted last season, but found the step up to Division 3 more than they could handle. Their schedule ended on Saturday 27th with a 10-1 defeat at the hands of Great Barford, with Michael Patterson managing the consolation goal.
The Under 14s and Under 13 Wildcats are both set for a solid mid-table berth. The Under 14s bagged a 3-2 win at AFC Kempston Colts, with a brace from Darby and an own goal securing the victory, while the Wildcats fell to a 4-2 defeat at Eastcotts, despite two goals from Nice.
Meanwhile, the Under 16 Lions have come to the end of their 7-season run with the club, with seven players who played in their first match remaining right to the last.
